



Originating in Denmark, Forest School was introduced to the UK in the 1990s. It is an inspirational process, offering learners regular opportunities to develop confidence, independence, self-esteem and resilience through hands-on learning within in the natural world.
Here at Lift Hillview, we believe that Forest School supports our curriculum values and the work we are doing to develop good learning behaviours, mindset and well-being. We are fortunate to have a wonderful Forest School space, consisting of a variety of native trees, a base camp with fire square, large climbing log and a well-stocked mud kitchen. We also benefit from a pond, located on the opposite side of the school field.
We take inspiration from the natural world around us and the seasonal changes and festivals that occur to provide engaging sessions for the children. Forest School has an emphasis on child-led learning and as such, our planning adapts to the interests and needs of the children. During our Forest School sessions we may:
